Wootbikes Carrea: Modern Fixie with a retro style

Hi riders, today we want to show you new fixed gear bike, the second designed by Wootbikes: Carrea.

Wootbikes: Carrea

Inspired by the heroic story of Andrea Carrea they sat down to design their second fixed gear bike. First they challenged their woodworkers to create an eye-popping, tough looking bullhorn handlebar. Then they  designed a custom all new leather saddle and found some great looking retro tires by Schwalbe. The frame colour was of course always meant to be the exact same shade of greenish blue used by the Bianchi cycling team when they first conquered the Alp d'Huez in 1952.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MET Helmet Forte "We are italians"

Hi riders, these last days we have been testing an important complement for all fixed gear riders...a helmet! In this case, the helmet we have reviewed is the last model from the famous helmet brand MET, the Forte.
Maybe, you have seen this helmet in their last promotional video with Dave Noakes and Juliet Elliot called "We are italians". Well, we have made our review and here we want to show you our opinion and pics.

MET Helmet Forte

MET Helmet Forte review

As you can see in the pictures, the structure of the MET Forte helmet is not the classic "nutcase" for urban riding, it's designed to offer you a high aerodynamic helmet. The in-mould structure has three layers (from inside to outside): variable density polystyrene, silkscreen printing and high strength polycarbonate. In this case, our helmet has the Italian flag colors red, green and white, but you can buy this helmet in other colors: white, black, black-blue, white-red-grey, black-grey-white or white-yellow-grey, but, personally, the Italian colors is the most beautiful...

The video "We are Italians" with Dave Noakes and Juliet Elliott:

The MET Forte helmet has some interesting features, for example, the occipital retention system, as you can see in the picture, its role is to ensure that the helmet is held firmly on your head, we have use the helmet with a cycling cap and the fit was great, really comfortable and light. Also, a dial at the back of the helmet for easy one-hand size adjustment, as MET says, the internal mechanism was designed for precision and reliability.
Another interesting feature is the reflective rear stickers, it help you to be visible, at night or tunnels, the reflective sticker placed at the back of the helmet makes you visible to drivers approaching from behind.

Front of the MET Helmet Forte

Rear side of the MET Helmet Forte

Easily removable inside pads to wash of the MET Helmet Forte

Dial to adjust the helmet with one hand MET Helmet Forte

About the inside of the helmet, we can talk about the anti-allergenic interior pads, this pads are hand washable and easily removable.

More technical info interesting for advance riders, the helmet has a cooling factor 6,5, this factor is calculated using fluid flow analysis, and a head contact surface 65, it indicates in percentage how much of the head is in contact with the helmet.

Conclusion

  • Nice, really nice helmet
  • Comfortable, easy to adjust
  • Strong but light, really light only 240 gr (Size M) or 260 gr (Size L)
  • Highly recommended for your road rides or urban rides
  • Retail price: 75€

PRODUCT REVIEW: CYCBAK Utility Messenger Bag (Large) CB-0530-L

Hi riders and couriers! Today we continue with our CYCBAK products review, in this case with the big brother of the Utility Messenger Bag Medium reviewed in our past post, the CB-0530-L.

All this fits in the CYCBAK (CB-0530-L) UTILITY MESSENGER

CYCBAK Utility Messenger Bag Large (CB-0530-L) review

The CYCBAK (CB-0530-L) UTILITY MESSENGER uses 1100 denier polyester fabric that has been specially coated on both sides with 0.9mm PVC. This provides an immensely strong, tear resistant and waterproof material, the results are bags that are virtually unaffected by weather (excesses of heat, cold or humidity), fuel, oil, strong sunlight and daily abrasion.

Different sizes of CYCBAK bags, in blue the little one (CY-0516S), in grey the medium size (CB-0530-M), and in green the large size CB-0530-L

The CYCBAK (CB-0530-L) UTILITY MESSENGER is designed as a trendy and rugged bag for the new-age urban cyclist, able to weather all condition while looking fashionable. It also comes with thick carrying straps and and additional stabilizing strap to ensure comfort while riding a bike. Thick Reflector Strip only in the carry strap not only looks fashionable but also ensures bikers are clearly visible and safe.
