#productReview | SS16 Bookman Light - Limited Edition

Hi riders!
Today we return with our product reviews, we have a lot of stuff of products to review these days...

Today we want to show you the SS16 Bookman Light, a limited edition of their classic bike lights for the spring/summer 2016. In our case we have received the light sunset pink and yellow elastic band model... as you will see in this review, combines perfect with our State Bicycle Black Label!

The colors are all about the concept of summer: sunny days by the sea, cruising bike rides, melting ice creams, laughter and sweet summer tunes.

Bookman Light is a slim, high quality bicycle light set – easy to mount and detach thanks to the elastic pull. It is surprisingly bright despite its size and has an oversized button that makes them easy to turn on and off, even with gloves. The front light attaches to the handlebar and the rear light goes on the saddle pole. Bookman Light fits all different sizes of handlebars and saddle poles.

New BOOKMAN Lights USB rechargeable - the eco friendly lights for your fixed gear bike

Our friends of BOOKMAN has sent us their last product...do you remember our last BOOKMAN Lights review? Now, they have created these lights with an USB connector to recharge the batteries, you will not need batteries anymore!

About the BOOKMAN USB Lights

We have reviewed the pitch black model, the package contains a front light with white led, rear light with red led and USB/micro USB cable. In this model is really easy to see the words: FRONT and REAR in the lights, it could help you when you want to attach the lights to your bike (you don't need to switch on the lights to see the color...:-P...)

USB Light is compact, lightweight and surprisingly bright...it fits all bicycles we test, and is quick and easy to attach to the handlebar, fork or saddle post with and elastic rubber band. Its large button on the upper side makes the light easy to turn on and off, even with gloves (perfect for cold days...)

This new light is even brighter than the previous model and fitted with a micro USB port for rechargint the battery. All mobile phone chargers with micro USB connection can be used as potential chargers for the USB Light.

BOOKMAN USB Lights Technical characteristics

Available in four color: Pich Black (this is the model we have tested), Midnight Blue, Raging Red and Shamrock Green.
Weather resistant, it can be used all year round.
Run time: 5 hours (Steady) and 25 hours (Flashing)
Visibility: over 500 meters
Modes: steady, flashing, off
Battery: Lithium-ion
Charging time: 2 hours from flat

Conclusion

  • This product is environmental friendly, you will never need to buy new batteries, you only need electricity...it's great!
  • Design really simple and easy to use
  • Easy to transport in your pocket after park your bike in the city
  • Provides a very good lighting, perfect to increase your safety when riding through the city
  • As in the previous model, we recommend this lights!

BOOKMAN, not only a bike light

BOOKMAN Light product review by The Fixed Gear World
Today we have a new product to review, it is Bookman bicycle lights. Surely some of you know it, or even you use it regularly!
Bookman has sent us it to review in different colors, really original colours. And here you have our review, we hope you enjoy!

Bookman Light, the product review

BOOKMAN Light product review by The Fixed Gear World
First things first, the package in which it comes. Packaging is a very original, it is a vacuum sealed bag with the logo of the brand "Bookman" and the instructions on the back (Although their operation is really easy ..). Simply open the bag to touch these bike lights. At first sight, the lights are smaller than it seems when you visit their website, is good news! The size is perfect to keep in your pocket when you park your bike on the street. As we shall later, the assembly and disassembly is easy and fast, so it is an ideal product to use on your bike when you move around the city.

BOOKMAN Light product review by The Fixed Gear World
Bookman bicycle lights are basically composed of two parts: the case, in which there is an LED light and the power button, and a rubber band used to hold the case to the bike.
In each package there are two lights: one is white and the other red. To clamp the lights to the bike just have to place the case next to the bike and on the rubber surround is subject to the case through a cleft adapted to it.

BOOKMAN Light product review by The Fixed Gear World
Its operation is simple, with a click on the button will have intermittent bursts, with two clicks will have a flashing light, and with three clicks have a steady light. If you click a fourth time the light turns off.

You can choose the lights in different colours: pitch black, raging red, heavenly blue, lemon yellow, dark jade, clay, goblin green and ghost white...you can combine it with your fixie!

Conclusion

  • The lights have an amazing lighting power, far greater than we thought, great!
  • It is an extremely light and small, you can keep in your pocket easily.
  • Assembly and disassembly is simple and comfortable. Practically you can install it on any tube of your bike.
  • To change the batteries need a screwdriver, but do not worry because it has the batteries included!
  • Really nice and cool design
Verdict: Highly recommended if you're an urban cyclist you need good lights easy to assemble and disassemble when you move around the city and leave your bike parked anywhere.

Info about Bookman

They started working on what was to become BOOKMAN in the end of 2009. Three of them had about half a semester left of their degree in Industrial engineering and together with another friends that also didn’t want to get a proper 9-5 job and instead try the entrepreneurial route we went to work. Most of them are dedicated cyclists and they all share an interest in design which gave them the direction for the brand. There are so many gadgets and accessories for bikes in the market but there a so few that they would like to put on our bikes. They wanted to make accessories that would complement the bike instead of detract from it. They did some projects on the side to get the money for tooling and after a lot of samples getting sent back and forth they were happy to place the first order of lights in the spring of 2011.

Since the start of BOOKMAN in June of 2011 the brand has been critically acclaimed by both bicycle enthusiasts and design lovers all around the globe. Their products have been featured in numerous magazines and blogs like Monocle, Dezeen, Daily Candy and Cool Hunting to name a few. Today it is possible to find the BOOKMAN Light at premium retailers in over 30 countries. In top notch bicycle shops such as Cicli Berlinetta (Berlin) and ParkSIDER (Tokyo), in world class concept boutiques such as Colette (Paris) and Wood Wood (Copenhagen) and museum shops like MoMA (NYC).

They are working hard to bring you some new products and with some luck they will be able to release them soon. It will be new lights but also other somewhat unexpected accessories that they think are in need of a makeover.
