Passion for fixed gear bikes was in the air, around 300 riders fighting for the best place in classifications and finals... most innovative, superlight and beautiful fixed gear bikes from riders and brands around the world. 8bar rookies is an amateur racing team. 

If you don’t like to race by yourself you can now join the 8bar rookies and be part of the community.

The requirements are easy. Take part in at least three races a year, no matter what format (Alley Cats, Cyclocross, Road or Fixed Gear racing) and represent the 8bar rookie team at any bike related event.

In return you are getting special rates on all 8bar products and the full support of the team at any event that is joined by the 8bar rookie team.

To start the weekend here we show you the last video created by Aventon Bikes about the Wolfpack Hustle Marathon Crash with a little interview with Kym Nonstop.

On March 15th, 2015 over three thousand cyclists took to the closed off streets of the LA Marathon. Organized by Don "Roadblock" Ward of Wolfpack Hustle, this event has become a staple in the LA urban cycling scene and a time honored tradition. Check out the ride and follow Aventon Factory Team Rider Kym Nonstop as she discusses her past and present goals in cycling.

#VIDEORECAP | The North Race Presents Halleycat III — 01/11/2014

Past 1/11/2014 was celebrated the third edition of The North Race Halleycat. A ghoulish evening of tricks, skids, sprints & beer as skeleton cyclists take over the city.

Halleycat is a halloween themed fixed gear alleycat-style event in Leeds (UK) where riders compete in a series of competitions such as sprints, track stands, hill climbs and skids.

Velo Sur Mer presents: The Purbeck Pub Run (England)

At noon on June 28th, cyclists will gather for one of the most epic amateur cycling events in the South of England. Across the undulating hills of The Purbecks, riders will compete in a series of intense races between some of the many ancient pubs in the district. Winding their way along narrow lanes, pushing their bodies to the limit with some near five hundred foot climbs and reaching eye watering speeds of at least 35mph whilst bursting downhill, riders will compete for glory and greatness. 

Not only will the overall winner be crowned with the title of ‘The Purbeck Pub Run Champion’ but they shall receive the extremely sought after Chrome Coveted Jersey, provided by Chrome Industries and designed by Death Spray Custom. 

Other fantastic sponsors include Bournemouth’s own BigxTop, designers of our incredible trophy Boscombe Bike Club and Sweden’s finest in cycle accessory design Ass Savers. On top of all of this, there is further excitement to be revealed, none other than THE Jimmy from Jimmy’s Iced Coffee will be providing a mobile support team in his brand new truck, helping out with punctures, injuries and stocking riders up with iced coffee. 

There may be blood, there will be sweat, there may be tears, all over the course of the twenty mile route, competing for not only overall champion but also ‘Fastest Female Rider’ as well as ‘Fastest Fixed Rider’ who will both have their great achievements recognised. 

For those who do not wish to take part in this intense competition but wish to appreciate the beauty of The Purbeck District from the comfort of their bike and cheer their racing friends on at the finish line, there will be an shorter thirteen mile route planned.

Red Bull explores origins of alleycat racing

Thanks to Adam Moffat we have received this video realized by Red Bull exploring origins of alleycat racing, an how the unsanctioned bike racing movement grew from its Toronto roots into a global phenomenon. 

The 8 minute vid explores the world and individuals behind unsanctioned bike races like the Red Hook Crit in NYC among others. Story is told by Antonio Colomobo of Cinelli, Rebecca "Lambchop" Reilly, Fenando "KID" Rivera, and Nadir Olivet of La Carerra in Toronto.
